This is a 1947 Rover sport saloon that I purchased in Vancouver Canada last year. It is one of 151 sport saloons build in 1947. It sat in a car port for about 25 years. Runs and drives well now. My most favorite car to drive in the collection.

Is it wood framed? There were a number of small English manufacturers post war that were still using high quality prewar manufacturing technicals. Riley being another one of them.

@alsancle fortunately no. It looks like it would be but the only wood in it is the floor boards and a lot of interior trim. My 48 Jaguar is like that too.

@alsancle yes its black. Had been sitting for decades. Ill post on it sonight. I actually was able to drive it. Rebuilding the transmission right now. It has a bad 3rd gear. Trying to source the parts.

Love it. Has a prewar look. And English interiors of the period are so much better than the American counterparts in terms of materials.

@Royale835Sedan that's true. I also have a 1948 Jaguar saloon very similar with even more wood inside.

@BillSmith thank you. that was right after I got it running. Its a lot nicer now and the ignition switch is back in the dash where it belongs.

@BillSmith i will do that soon. I am swapping it onto another chassis rightnow exactly the same car but it had been totally rebuilt including rhe engine trans and diff. This chassis was very tired and origonal. Saving it ofcourse in case i ever want to restore numbers matching.

for me, the fun part of the interior is getting everything working all the gauges, even the electro mechanical clock. and sourcing the correct tools for the factory tool drawer under the dash.

@59redwing Getting all the gauges to work is always important to me. So many old cars have bad gas sending units, or bad temp gauges, etc. Making them all work is a priority for a well running car.

Here is a similar Riley. This one LHD. I've always liked these and they are relatively inexpensive. However, you need to get one with good wood.

@alsathere there was a pair of those for sale near me in the last year I thought about buying but i already have so many cars so I decided to let someone else save them. and then a month later i bought a 53 Hudson so go figure haha.

@BillSmith i just buy more realestate with extra shop buildings. Rent out the house and wala! Covered storage i dont have to pay for and the wife wont care about. Outta site is outta mind lol
