Auctioneer is providing little detail. From photos the cars looks to be a 31 or 32 but it seems to have the self shifter which would make it a 32. No other 835s survive with a self shifter to my knowledge. Car looks largely original from photos all hard to tell what is going on with the Pain.

I've reached out the auctioneer for more information which I will post. Would be nice to get better photos. Also the chassis number and confirmation of the self shifter.
To my knowledge there are no known 835 Royales with the self shifter. Only a few later six cylinder cars.

I have an odd question but did they make any landaulets of this?
· 3d
Dan, not to my knowledge. No European coachwork to my knowledge either. There were some custom Dietrich bodies including my car but do not believe any were landaulets.
Did you happen to find one?

I have seen a towncar drawing somewhere. Don't remember where.

No, I just thought a rear folding section could make the rear of the sedan look less "heavy" but I know they look weird to modern eyes with the section lowered.

The production sedans were Murray bodied and I think fairly attractive.

This is a what I believe to be a Dietrich bodied car that is not known to survive. It is the big 152 wheelbase. So not one of the 3 different Dietrich bodied cars on the 148 like mine.

Check out this video explaining how you use the self shifter. You still needed the clutch to engage forward or reverse but once you were moving it would shift between high and low automatically. So I would call this more of a semi-automatic.
This is an interesting car. We need to get better photos and the chassis number.

I have a call in to the auctioneer. Lets see if I can get better photos and some of the numbers.

A couple more pictures he sent me. Working on getting the numbers.

I gave the auctioneer the diagram showing where the numbers should be on this car. Hopefully we have them in a few days.
Anyone interested in bidding remotely, here is the form.

AJ thanks, you're making this too easy. We're going to need a simultaneous form to sign up for marital counselling too.🙃

Dan, when I close my eyes, I can see you behind the wheel of this great car, and your smiling wife sitting next to you shaking her head at the good fortune she fell into…..

Dan, I really want someone I know to buy this so we can follow along with the recommissioning. That self shifter is such a cool feature and this is the only car I know (of the big 358 CI cars) that has it.

We could do a whole topic on how the cars impact relationships. My wife basically lets me do whatever I want, as long as we can pay the mortgage and if she needs a new car she gets one. My issue now is she needs a new car.

This car is pretty cool! @alsancle, I can’t believe you’re not buying that!
· 1d
Yes, just what I need is another car to work on. Somebody needs to buy this so we can sort out the details around the self shifter.

Is that the original Schebler carb? Air cleaner setup looks to be done after. Mechanical fuel pump is missing.
