Description

This rare Packard was truly discovered four years ago in a barn where it had been stored for several decades, in West Templeton, California near Paso Robles. This area is located in mid-state California which is a renowned vineyard and wine production area that enjoys a very dry environment. The new owner had it towed to his reputable classic vehicle mechanic in Paso Robles to get it dialed-in and running plus presentable to the condition as you view it today. He states the car appears to have retained most of its original paint with the exception of some touch up areas. In his opinion, this car is an original survivor and has not restored. An upgraded aluminum radiator has been installed plus a generator. The original Packard honeycomb radiator plus the original generator (which is missing some regulator parts), have been retained and will come with this sale. The vehicle starts, runs and stops. The data plate VIN matches the VIN on the clear California title. A majority of the exterior paint, the plated radiator shell and headlight enclosures plus the entire cloth interior remain in very satisfactory condition for their age. The car's rear back window shade plus the vintage rear glass flower vases are still in place as is the original Packard sun visor and the wind wings. In printed literature at the time, a 1923 'Gentleman's Packard' coupe was often referred to as a 'Doctor's Coupe'. With three seats, the car's overall design was reportedly very beneficial for doctors; Not only to visit patients, but then to transport them. The car allowed easier access and egress to the rear seating area for transportation for individuals if needed. In addition, this sale will also include an additional period Packard short block. Also a cylinder assembly with pistons and a transmission as well. The mechanic says the car doesn’t appear to need them, but they are spares.
