1973 porsche 914 renegade. V8 350

This car started life as a 1973 Porsche 914 2.0 and has been transformed into a true performance machine with a professionally built Chevy 350 V8 conversion.

History & Build:

• The conversion was originally done by an aircraft mechanic named Ray, who owned the car before me.

• The 350 motor was custom-built by his friend, a professional drag racing engine builder, at a cost of $2,700 back in 1981 (a huge amount at the time).

• After completing the build, Ray drove it lightly, then stored it in his garage for years while his new Mercedes SL lived in the driveway.

• I purchased the car from him about 14 years ago, after convincing him over three years of conversations.

Details:

• 350 Chevy V8 (Renegade conversion)

• Solid build quality and engineering — similar to the famous Rod Simpson V8 Porsche conversions.

• Rare and unique car that combines Porsche style with American muscle.

• A true piece of hot rod / sports car history.

Notes:

Rod Simpson’s famous V8 Porsche builds (such as his 1966 Porsche 912 V8, capable of 0–60 in 2.3 seconds and 209 mph top speed) give you an idea of what these conversions are capable of.
