The chrome strip overhangs the hood on both ends. Slid into the chrome strip on the cowl end, near the crows foot, is a metal piece that is bolted to the top of the cowl, in front of the crows foot moulding. On the radiator end, the same thing. A metal piece slides into the overhanding chrome piece and is bolted down on the top of the radiator shell.

According to Joe A . He checked his 1931 Flying Cloud . He says his hood hinge is 3/4 inch wide right to the cowl from the radiator . He says his 8 - 35 is different . Since he does not have his 8 - 31 nearby to compare . I am going to go with the 3/4 wide hood hinge . Thanks to A.J. , Victor and John for all the leg work that went in a big circle . Sorry to put you all through this . I was trying to work with Don Olsen's picture of his hood . Joe figures a reproduction Ford hinge would work . They also sell the pivot pieces also . I will try to layout the hood which is in pieces around the cowl this week . To see if it fits . A.J. I will use your information you sent me for reference . I received a nice email today from Bill Barker . He found some hood hinge parts and is going to send them to me . We also had a discussion about my centre hood hinge . He says that the 8 - 31 had a constant strip while the 8 - 35 was tapered . This is great news for me as Bill stated that Mac's Ford has a strip that would fit my car . One big problem solved . Thanks to everyone involved in solving this problem .
