8-52 Long wheelbase cars

I heard this car surfaced in the Chicago area and it is being restored... I hope it is. I find it gorgeous! From the angle the pic is taken, I could not swear the car is indeed a long wheelbase car, but it certainly appears to be so.

From the CCCA forum (I believe it was there but I could be mistaken) the following car was posted. It apparently did government service in Finland and now it surfaced in need of complete restoration.

My recollection is that there was a long wheelbase car on eBay last year or the year before. I did not save any pictures and it needed a complete restoration. It is possible I'm confusing it with a regular 8-35 as I could not tell the difference back then.

Thanks A.J.! Perhaps the California car should be posted here also, but I think it is a 135" wheelbase car.

Then there is this thing... I am not sure how to call it. I saw it advertised as a 1934 Reo Royal limousine... true, it looks long but awkard,with a body extensión at the rear and a small door there. It has the 1931-32 type of front end with bumpers from a later car and instruments from who knows what...

Is that a 135 inch wheelbase with an extended body?

There was a 8 -52 at the Lansing meet . In original condition . The interior was good but the outside was aged . The interior door handles were different front the 8 - 35 I was told . This car must have been very impressive when brand new . Because it still does have a presence rust and all .

He has posted a couple of times to the CCCA thread. I suggested he come over here to this forum. He has a number of technical questions.

I'm the same way. I rarely remember to get any pictures. Maybe we can find another club member that took some.

I just opened the Reo Echo issue for Nov/Dec which I received yesterday from Bill Reed. In the last page, the pic of the 8-52 at the Reo meet! What a car! I would have loved to be at the show to take good pics of interior and engine details, as judging from this pic, it is a very original or unmolested car.

It mentions it is a 1931 model, but I think I read that the 8-52 was a new offering for 1932. It would appear from the pic that it is a 7 passenger sedan, as I can see no window for a closed chauffer limousine, but perhaps anybody who saw it at the show could verify this information.

I found an article in The Classic Car, December 1979, Vol. XXVII No. 4 in which another lwb car is pictured...I am leaving it with the caption included...

Well I found out some sad news today about a 8 - 52 Royale that was located in Rochester , New York . It seems some Reo members saw this car back in the 1960's in a car scrap yard . A Sandy Van Allen ran the yard and paid the owner for the Royale . He drove it into yard and parked beside 3 Franklins . He would not sell it to anyone and let it rot into the ground . When he died his son hired a metal shredder and shredded all the cars that where there along with other makes . So I guess the 8 - 52 that went to Lansing in 2014 is the only intact 8 - 52 out there at this time .

Photos and history of the European cars would be great.  To my knowlege there are no known production records.  We have been trying to tabulate all known cars and I'm not sure many or any of the European cars have been captured.
