@alsancle Great news! Probably a pretty desirable location in that town. There's a nice story in the AACA Peerless Forum by TG57Roadmaster, I believe, who was invited to show his ~56 Cadillac on one of the top floors of the 9-story Peerless Building in NYC. Built in 1909 and still there at 57th & Broadway.

@TheFairbanks 1926 was their best year for sales, at over 10,000 cars. If anyone asks you "why aren't there more Peerless cars around?" remember this...I crunched the numbers once and found that annual production of Peerless cars averages 3,800. That's the same production as Rolls-Royce 10 years ago. Did I see any R-R cars when I took my wife to the West Edmonton Mall? When I go to the Southgate Mall in Missoula next week? Even when we stayed at the most expensive hotel in my life...the Doubletree in Lawrence, KS five months ago, there weren't any Rollers in the parking lot. Like Peerless cars, they don't make many and a lot of them get traded in or recycled.

P.S.: Long-time Peerless owner Alan Clendenen traded in his 1904 and 1912 Peerlesses for a 1914 Silver Ghost about 20 years ago. (I couldn't find a photo). Did he "trade up"?

Another would be that B&W picture here on the Peerless Society site of Louis Chevrolet standing next to his new 1926 Peerless Six-80 with the caption: "Ask the man who owns one". JohnBloom is a Packard owner. Do you think that would be received poorly by the Packard Guys? If in poor taste -- it could say:" Louis here started Chevrolet in 1912. His new car in 1926? A Peerless Six-80."

@TheFairbanks Crap. If I have to buy these I'm sending you the bill. I have an identical set for my Royale. I actually used them and went with the dark blue because my car was originally red and I couldn't do it.

Of course, now I can't find the pictues of them, sigh...

@TheFairbanks That's actually a fantastic find. I spent an hour copying the color mix data 15 years ago from a similar ad. My '28 needs some specific colors for Model Six-80s for that year:
---------Rolls-Royce Blue {a blueish-green}
---------London Smoke {a dirty grey-brown}
unfortunately not in this list of ten. there are vintage paint resources for some of the other colors out there, though.

@TheFairbanks  Yes. 725 dollars is a lot of money. I have a couple of mascots from cars I don't own as a collection. Fortuntely something I never got addicated to.

Dave, there were 2 different diameters of these, TTBOMK, sort of a junior/senior thing.
And there are three versions of the eagle radiator mascots that I know of:
1) The original, a masterpiece of design, very sharp detail on feathers...you could almost cut yourself on them, they're so 3-D. Made out of nickel-plated zinc(potmetal). Incredibly fragile over time(like the potmetal interior door hardware a lot of cars had in the 20s)...1 or 2 show up on e-bay every year, most with damaged beaks. They can be restored/replated.
2) Don Sommer's company in Novi, MI (American Arrow Corporation) used to make perfect replicas of original radiator mascots. Lost wax process cast stainless steel. 200 varieties were produced. Their version is show quality...................................................... probably better than the original. $600 20 years ago.
3) The ones sold by a company in Irvine, CA(now Aliso Viejo), Procom Engineering, Inc. New reproductions(R.P.s), solid bronze or brass, will outlast the pyramids. Manufactured in China. I got one on e-bay for $49.99.* A workmanlike copy of the original 1927 Peerless eagle. The OD on mine is 2 1/8" with male thread, ID is 1 15/16".

The one above is a #3. $725 IS a lot of money. I saw one like it for sale in Europe somewhere for hundreds of euros last year. As you know if you're a R-R/Packard/Pierce-Arrow owner, replica hood ornaments are really common. A) if you park your car unattended they get nicked B) there's a lot of money in collecting the real ones C) long time Peerless owner Ele Chesney told me how much she loved collecting the French art glass versions("and by the way, they are radiator mascots, not hood ornaments"). When she decided to unload these Laliques at an auction, they fetched over 800K.

*6th Grade Math Story Problem: if I bought 1500 of these for $50 and sold all of them for $725, I would make a million dollars.

My wife appreciates fine art(SHE HAS AN ART DEGREE) and sent me a photo of an art glass radiator mascot today ($245 from artdeco1930.com), something risque' (I CAN'T SHOW HERE) made of Green Uranium Glass. The eagle below($210) in Blue Uranium Glass is more appropriate for a Peerless. They're made from original H. Hoffman 1930s molds. They're probably radioactive. Ultra cheap compared to Rene Lalique "bouchons de radiateur". I can get you one of those for $33,830! I dare say.... if you parked at a mall with one of these on the hood of your antique car, it would be gone RATHER quickly.

@Peerless28 If I had a car I would grab that. Head gaskets are getting more and more scarce all the time and the reproduction stuff is hit or miss.

@Peerless28 The Historic Images seller is selling news wire photos which are very cool because usually there is a description on the back explaining the photo. Most seem to be from the 50 through 80s.

@alsancle This one was on the occasion of them winning a 1st at an AACA Meet at Dearborn Village. Jack Tallman(a retired Illinois Cadillac dealer) had this Landaulet for years, and told me it's the ultimate brass car. Of all places, it's at the very posh Key Museum, after selling at the Amelia Island auctions about 5 years ago. In case you're ever in Izmir, Turkey, pop in and see it.
