Sounds like a great idea.. I wonder why Abner Doble didnt add a neutral gear to the car.. Seems like that would have made life much easier!!!

We need some of the lurking steam historians to chime in here and help but I think only the White and maybe Lane had transmissions? I know of at least one Stanley that was modified so that you could run the engine & pumps in neutral.
