Have paid zero attention to Polestar. Have a friend who is hell bent on trading his Model X for a Rivian which I think is a mistake. However, looking at Polestar, it is very attractive. Maybe I'll pay more attention.
One of the reasons it looks so good is there is no rear window. The rear view mirror is completely digital so they didn't need to worry about glass in back or visibility.
I did some research. Polestar is backed by the manufacturing and financial power of Geely and Volvo. Even thought the company is achieving record sales volume, it has a high cash burn and operational losses. It has required ongoing cash infusions. Due to recent U.S. regulatory restrictions, Polestar is exiting the American new vehicle sales market to fully refocus on Europe and Asia.
So in other words, does not look like an option in the US. I guess Geely is actually the Chinese.
RIP Polestar. There seem to be a lot more companies exiting the United States electric vehicle market than entering. I’m still bummed out that Tesla got rid of the luxury models S and X. When I drive a model 3 or model Y I get the same feeling as when I’m drinking light beer. Yes it’s a beer but it’s not the same.
