Here is a picture of the tires on my car.

Wish they were 17's!  Why are you replacing them?  Just curious.

I would appreciate your posting a comparable photo of your car with the new whitewalls for comparison.

Also, what is your experience with balancing the wheel/tire combination with the Auburn brand tires?

Most people are going from whitewalls back to blackwalls these days.  Sure looked good with the blackwalls.  Very few 1930's cars were delivered new with whitewalls.   In general, 1950s-1990's cars look better with whitewalls, most pre 1950's cars look better and more appropriate with blackwalls.  That is my opinion, of course.

While some may be going from whitewalls to black,

I don't think "most" may be accurate.

While not necessarily applying to staid sedans or lower cost units,

a significant number of the higher end, more sporty open cars of the 1930s were ordered and/or delivered with whitewall tires.

Surely, it is the owner's choice to change to whitewall tires for his Auburn, and I applaud his decision.

Separately, while I'm surely not an Auburn authority, I thought this series used a 6.50-16 tire. The current 7.00-16 looks a bit too large in my estimation,

but again, unrequested opinions are only worth what you paid for them.
