1928 Willys Whippet sedan unrestored, 37000mi , all orig, fine.

I went to a garage sale and this old German guy had this 1928 Willys Whippet for sale there. He said he was going to sell it to the highest bidder by the end of the month and so far the bid was up to $5500. That seems awful cheap for a car like what I was looking at, but I am no car buff. Is that a good buy? It is drivable and was always garaged. The paint looks a little chalky and oxydized though.

That could even be on the high side, it depends on the model and body style. If it's a touring or roadster, that's a steal. But the 4-cyl coach and sedans are only $9000 and $7200 for mint cars, the 6-cyl a little more at $12,000 either way, according to the book I am looking at. Books are guides, though - I think $6000 is reasonable for a running, driving 20's car - especially if it's all original or well cared for all this time.
