To the best of my recollection, ALL, I say again ALL Packard vibraton dampers, from the first day of their use, fasten to the crank-shaft in the conventional manner.<P>What MAY be puzzling you, is that the "bolt" that holds it on, does not have a conventional "head"....on Packards of your year, that "bolt" was actually the "receiver" for a crank ( even as late as '34 Packards had a provison in the form of a hole thru the lower grill, for a hand-crank). You may have to fabricate an attachment so you can grab onto and unscrew this "bolt". Sorry...been too many years...my best recollection is that the thread is CONVENTIONAL (that is the case on my '38 V-12)...I do NOT recall Packard using unconventional threads in this area .<P>Pete Hartmann<BR>Big Springs, AZ
