Who's going to the CCCA annual meeting in Detroit?

Melanie and I will be arriving on Thursday with the 1933 Auburn convertible sedan for the show on Saturday. Would love to meet folks in person whom I've only met online. Looking forward to it!

Heard from a friend it was the best national meeting ever. Lots and lots of great cars. I think the location with many high end large collections no too far away probably helped.

It really was excellent. They managed to pull together nineteen V16 automobiles, each better than the last. This is in addition to the 30 or so other cars on display. The 1933 Auburn phaeton from our inventory took first in its class with 97.75 points, which was a nice surprise and a real honor. The events, the planning, the venue, all fantastic. Packard Proving Grounds, NAIAS, two awesome private collections, it was great! Melanie and I had a great time and made a lot of new friends.

Hats off to the Michigan Region for putting on a first-class event!

I agree, hats off to the Michigan Region CCCA. Fantastic time - NO SNOW (I know that was a concern for many) and the friendship, conversation, and good spirits of the people there were just great. It was great to see Matt and Melanie again. Some amazing CCCA members cars there and especially neat to see 3 cars from the 1915-24 era that are now accepted by CCCA by vote of the membership a year ago . There had to be 250+ people at the banquet on Saturday night. The best in show went to a 1930 Cadillac V16 limousine (yes over and above some really fine open bodied cars) that had an incredible restoration to absolutely authentic , period correct standards. Not over done, but the attention to detail on a big 6 window formal car that looked just as it would have come out of the showroom. The best part is the owner told me he can't wait to drive it on a tour! My personal thanks to all who put up with me (and didn't fall asleep) when I gave my talk on coachwork at the Center for Creative Studies in downtown Detroit. This was the old GM (built 1928) design headquarters, and CCCA member Bill Parfet hauled in his 1936 Cadillac V16 aerodynamic fast back coupe to place on the turntable in the room I gave my presentation in (on the 11th floor , they used a freight elevator to get the car to that level) for added eye candy. Thanks again to all who put in the effort to make this winter annual meeting just outstanding.

I believe this is the car you're referring to Walt. It was stunning. There had to be 10 1930/31 V 16 Cadillacs there. And no two body styles duplicated. One could give a dissertation on the different body styles offered on the early V 16 Cadillac based on what was in attendance.

I seen that car at Hershey and talked to the owner there. He had Mike Butters do his castings for him up here in Canada. A very nice car indeed.
