Hello folks,My name is Brian Dudney.Some fo you may recognize my last name, as my Father was involved in the CCCA, before he died in 1983. His name was Pete Dudney. I believe there's an award handed out for the "Best Prepared Car" on the CARavan.We had a 1938 Packard V-12 Coupe Conv, and a 1938 Super 8 Sedan.I still love the Packards, and wish we still had ours.I thought I'd pop in, and say hello, to see if anyone remembered me/us.

Gawd....has your wonderful dad been gone THAT long ? Of course we remember him with fondess and respect. Good to have you aboard !

yep, it'll be 20 years in a little over 3 weeks.

We've been Packard-less for about 10 years.

The V-12 car was the last to go, we had a real hard time parting with it. A 99.0 car, that they only made 28 of is hard to part with. Not to mention the sentimental value alone.

Well, the Dudney Award goes on. It is still given to "the best prepared Classic." That usually means the car with the most extra stuff in it.

It's a coveted award that's a lot of fun too.... It's amazing what some people bring with them!

Well, that's great to hear.

Dad always had a spare part, or something he could make work, and he was more than happy to give it to someone that needed it. Or he'd pull over on the side of the road, and help someone having problems. He loved the cars, club, and friends he had there.

I practically grew up in the rumble seat. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

It makes me very proud to know he is remembered in such a way.

I knew your dad very well, as he was very kind to a HS school kid in Hermitage, TN, in the early '70s. Spent many a night in the garage with him helping as best I could. One particularly fond memory was helping him pull the ignition wiring through the loom of Carl Talley's Brunn V12 Packard and then fire it up for the first time. It lit off on the first crank and Pete soon had the engine idling as slow as I have ever seen a car engine idle.

I miss a number of my Nashville era friends who have passed away... Tommy Shriver (my third father really...) Mitch Magid, Reese Thompson, etc.

Yes, it is crazy that I would resurrect a ten-year-old thread, but I just rejoined the CCCA and saw a reference to the Dudney Award and wondered if if was in honor of your dad. I'm very glad to find that it is.

Brian, you do not need to own a Classic Car, we would love to have you as a member,not only because we would love to share the history and culture of our small part of automobile culture and history, but because of the legacy your family has with the club. Please consider joining ; it is easy and painless! It would be wonderful to have YOU give this award at a future CARavan.

I currently have a 1964 Pontiac Bonneville that I'm fixin' up. It sure ain't no packard, but it sure cost me alot less!

I'd be curious to know if anyone knows where the super 8 is. Last I knew Tom Shriver's widow gave it to her son, and he sold it.

I've also lost track of our 12. I believe it has changed hands a few times since we let it go.

There is an AACA national meet and Grand National Meet in Lebanon coming up soon. You may want to enter your Bonneville, or at least attend the show. The dates are June 13 and 14. The Grand National is on Friday, the National is Saturday.

I also remember your father, and Tom Shriver. Will never forget the Packards that both owned, especially Tom's 1934 coupe roadster.
