Yes, it has been quiet, and I think the reason is mostly seasonal. But I still do not favor the banning of PH and other posters unless they are just blatantly offensive or vulgar. While I almost always disagree with PH, his positions usually inspired much discussion and counter arguments -- this was good for the club and good for the forum.

I also think the CCCA and most other clubs should use their publications to publicize these forums and other web resourses and encourage their members to take a look. I am continually astonished at the information, parts and relationships I have been able to establish via the internet. Perhaps an article in the Bulletin on Web Resourses for the Classic Car Collector or something like that would be a good idea. This is especially important when you can see that you don't need hundreds of participants to keep threads interesting and active. And if they are active, the word does get around.

you know what happens when you suggest things HA! Why not write such an article? I really don't surf around too much so wouldnt be a very good candidate to do this.

As far as the banning thing goes I really am the guy to blame, but my job has been SOOO much easier and stress free, and I think we will not run off as many prospective members in the current scenario. Banning is really done as a last resort, and he was given every opportunity to change his ways or at least apologise, he made his bed, I didnt.

I think Shawn was absolutely correct with the ban. I came here about a year ago to ask a simple question about a 32 Packard I was thinking about buying. The rude/disparaging remarks I got from thsi person were enogh to convince me to a) never join CCCa and not buy the car. At that time even the moderator did not attempt to calm the idiot down. I took that as a sign that that type of behavior was condoned in the club. I made a vow not to post in this section again but I felt it was appropriate to let the club members know how just one person can shed an extremely negative light on the entire group.

As the sole moderator of the Forum at the time you had your bad experience, let me personally apologize to you, especially if you think I did nothing to "calm the man down." You have no idea how much trouble I went through during his stay on this Forum. If you thought some of the posts that stayed were rude, you should have seen some of the ones that I deleted. Dealing with this caused me many a sleepless night.

Let me assure you that most CCCA members are indeed very nice people. Like any group, there are always a few you wish you never met; but 99.99% are worth the price of admission, just for the chance to get to know them. It?s truly an amazing group. Please reconsider joining. If you take the effort to become active in the Club, I don?t think you will ever regret it.

As you may have noticed, the CCCA National Board of Directors has emphatically voted to empower the Web Master and/or Forum Moderators the authority to edit, delete or ban posts and their writers from this forum. Rude or disparaging behavior will not be tolerated. This motion, which was passed unanimously at the 2003 Annual Meeting, has the teeth that were previously missing to allow for more drastic action.

Hopefully we can now spend more time enjoying our hobby. After all, it is supposed to be fun.
