troubleshooting brake lights

For my 60 Buick Electra 225 Convertible the wiring to the brake light switch on top of the master cylinder is dead. Is there a way to bring it back to life? I have bypassed it,for now, but the brake light on the left side is dimmer than the brake light on the right side. Is there a way to correct these problems?

As far as the brake light switch mounted into the master cylinder, only thing to do is replace it. as far as one side being dimmer than the other check for a bad ground on the dim side, you will most likely find if you remove the bright bulb the dim one will go out.
